1. (SBU) The following report provides security-related
information for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games as of noon
on February 20, 2010. Please visit the following link for

10. The interagency USG Joint Operations Center can be contacted on
a 24-hour basis at 604-692-2509, ext 4013.
SECURITY ISSUES
Protests:
2. (U) 19 February Protest Activity - No Olympics-related
protests occurred yesterday.
3. (U) Current Protest Activity - A "Rally for National
Housing" - is scheduled to take place from noon to 2 pm today on
the north (Georgia Street) side of the Vancouver Art Gallery. The
demonstration is expected to be peaceful.
4. (SBU) Anticipated Protest Activity - The next scheduled
activity of note is the "Critical Mass Bike Ride" on February 26.
Bicyclists plan to gather on the north (Georgia Street) side of the
Vancouver Art Gallery at 6 p.m. and ride through the streets of
Vancouver. This recurring event is taking place as regularly
scheduled and is not anti-Olympics in nature.
Incidents:
5. (U//FOUO) Suspicious Map of Whistler Athlete's Village
Discovered - Update - Canadian security services revealed a
suspicious map containing unspecified markings in the Whistler
Athlete's Village was located aboard a public transport bus
February 18. The RCMP's Integrated Security Unit conducted security
sweeps and did not find any indications of a threat; the map is
believed to be a hoax.
Threats:
6. (SBU) At this time, there are no known specific, credible
transnational terrorist threats against the Vancouver Olympics.
7. (SBU) FBI Receives Anonymous Write-in Alleging Unspecified
Olympics Attack - Update - The RCMP considers this write-in threat
to be a poison pen letter and closed the investigation.
SECURITY OPERATIONS
8. (SBU) Other than scheduled USOC and team movements, no
major Olympics-related security operations have transpired during
this reporting period.
9. (SBU) DHS Secretary Napolitano, Health and Human Services
Secretary Sebelius, and Ambassador to the USUN Susan Rice will
visit Vancouver from February 25 to March 1 and attend the closing
ceremonies.
