1. (SBU) This is an action request. The twenty-third Meeting
of
States Parties to the International Convention on the
Elimination of All forms of Racial Discrimination will be
held on Thursday, January 21, in New York, where nine members
will be elected, most likely by acclamation.
2. (C) If the voting is by acclamation Department requests
US Mission to join in the acclamation for the nine-candidate
roster presented for election in REFTEL.
3. (C) If another States Party calls a vote, Department
requests US Mission to vote YES for the following candidates:
A. Mr. Noureddine AMIR (Algeria)
B. Mr. Regis de GOUTTES (France)
C. Mr. Patrick THORNBERRY (UK)
D. Mr. Kokou Mawuana Ika Kana EWOMSAN(Togo)
