1. The Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs is very saddened
to report the death of our dear friend and colleague,
Claudia Romeo. Claudia passed away on February 7, 2010,
and leaves behind her husband, retired FSO Nick Romeo,
and four children.
2. Claudia served 32 years with the Department, most
recently in Muscat as the Human Resources Officer.
Prior assignments included just about every bureau and
took her all over the world. Claudia's warm personality
and her focus on helping others touched everyone who met
her. With just the right mix of humor and reality, she
mentored and guided many Foreign Service colleagues and
drew great respect and admiration from those who knew
her.
3. Funeral services were held on February 14.
Expressions of condolence can be sent to the family at:
3721 Ivydale Drive, Annandale, VA 22003. For donations
in memory of Claudia, please contact the family for
specific suggestions or contribute to a charity of your
choice.
4. The Romeo family sincerely thanks everyone for their
heartfelt support and prayers during this very difficult
time.
5. Minimize considered.
