(S/NF) Summary: Amcit Muhammad ABDULALEEM (PDOB: 5/12/88, MS, USA) was taken from his home around midnight on 1/17/10 by five or six unidentified men, according to his wife Dhuha Abdulhadi. On 1/20/10, PSO confirmed, though other channels, that they arrested Abdulaleem as part of a larger round up. Post has not received an official response to its diplomatic note on the matter. End Summary. The Family,s Story -------------- ¶2. (SBU) Muhammad,s wife, Dhuha ABDULHADI (PDOB: 1/23/90, GA, USA),arrived at US Embassy Sana,a on the afternoon of 1/17/10 to report the possible arrest/kidnapping of her husband. She claimed that 5-6 unidentified men dressed in civilian clothes arrived at their house around midnight on 1/17/10 and spoke with her husband for 20 minutes. They proceeded to search their house and left with her husband. She assumed he had been arrested. Both of their passports were taken along with their two cell phones. Abdulhadi claimed no knowledge of the men who arrived at the house and hid at a friend,s after the incident. ¶3. (U) The couple has been in Yemen on and off for about two years, most recently returning in late October 2009. The husband studied at the Andalus School in Sana,a until he left 2-3 weeks ago due to a &dispute.8 Abdulhadi spends her time at home studying Arabic and going to the mosque. She claimed no knowledge of her husband,s associates. Note: Both are members of Yemen,s &convert community,8 several of whom have ties to extremist groups, including al-Qaeda. LEGATT Interview -------------- 4.(S/NF) Abdulhadi was subsequently interviewed by LEGATT, who firmly believes that Abdulhadi is omitting or manipulating critical details. Abdulhadi provided a few leads on her husband,s associates, which LEGATT will follow up. LEGATT also contacted the National Security Bureau (NSB) and the Political Security Organization (PSO),the latter of which confirmed, through other channels, to have apprehended Abdulaleem. CONOFFs have still not received an official reply to their diplomatic note to the MOI. Contacting the Family -------------- ¶5. (S/NF) The consular section is maintaining contact information for all family members calling on Abdulaleem,s behalf. At this point we can only divulge that we are following up at all levels with the ROYG. As soon as we receive an official response and more details about his location, Post will contact his immediate relatives.
