1. (C) The Ambassador delivered reftel demarche January 23 to
Deputy Foreign Minister Mohyadeen al-Dhabbi. Dhabbi accepted
the demarche and promised to refer it to Minister of Water
and Environment Abdulrahman al-Eryani for his consideration
and recommendation.
2. (C) The Ambassador noted that the ROYG could highlight its
support for the Copenhagen Accord at the January 27 London
conference as an example of Yemen's constructive engagement
with the international community. Noting that he is working
on the remarks that Prime Minister Ali al-Mujawwar will
deliver at the conference, Dhabbi suggested he would press
for a decision on the Copenhagen Accord and, if favorable,
would try to insert language reflecting this position into
the PM's speech.
3. (C) If a ROYG position fails to emerge in London, post
will attempt to ascertain its decision on associating itself
with the accord prior to the January 31 deadline.
