1. (U) Poloff and Netherlands Embassy DCM Menno Lenstra met
with Naif Al-Sudairy of the Disarmament department at the MFA
on January 31 to discuss preparations for the Nuclear
Security Summit per reftel.
2. (U) Al-Sudairy said that the Saudis planned to attend all
preparatory meetings for the Nuclear Security Summit, as well
as the Summit itself, adding that they were broadly
supportive of U.S. goals for the meeting. He asked for
additional information regarding the U.S. delegation to the
meeting and the Summit as it became available, so as to
secure the appropriate level of Saudi participation. He was
not yet sure who would attend the February 9-11 third Sherpa
meeting from the Saudi side, but said he expected to attend
both the April preparatory meeting and the Summit itself.
