(SBU) We delivered reftel demarche on January 25 to Czech
Transportation Ministry Road Safety Department Head Zuzana
Ambrozova. Ms. Ambrozova told us that Czech law prohibits
the use of hand-held telephones or communication devices
while driving. She said, however, that currently there is no
available data in the Czech Republic regarding traffic
accidents attributed to cell phone use, prevalence of cell
phone use while driving, or efficacy of current regulations
related to cell phone use and text messaging while operating
a motor vehicle. Further, there are no targeted public
awareness campaigns on the subject.
