1. (SBU) In response to reftel, post contacted the Norwegian
Ministry of Defense (MOD) to determine the nature and scope of
Norway's military response to the Haiti crisis. The MOD said that
for budget and logistical reasons, Norway would not contribute
troops to peacekeeping operations on Haiti, but would send four
military field kitchens to aid in the relief efforts. These four
field kitchens were donated to the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).
No further direct aid to Police Contributing Countries (PCCs) or
Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) is planned.
