--------------
Summary
--------------
1. (SBU) Per reftel, Post submits the following update for the
third week of January 2010. End Summary.
--------------
PD Activities
--------------
2. (SBU) The Somalia Unit, including the Military Information
Support Team (MIST) dedicated to Somalia, performed para. 3-5
activities since the last report:
3. (SBU) Somalia Unit, in conjunction with AF/PD, is facilitating
the planned visit of the Transitional Federal Government's Minister
of Information to the U.S. for Diaspora outreach. The Minister is
planning to visit the UK on the same trip; we are coordinating with
the British High Commission in Nairobi to ensure the visits are
complementary to one another.
4. (SBU) PAO and a member of the Military Information Support Team
(MIST) visited Dadaab refugee camps from January 11-13 to speak
with organizations to whom we provided sports equipment and gear
for drama performances in November 2009. All beneficiaries
remained extremely grateful for the materials, and appear to be
putting them to positive use.
5. (SBU) MIST activity: Continued audience analysis for a planned
Islamic lecture series, possibly on Radio Mogadishu.
