1. (C) The Ambassador delivered the subject demarche on Yemen donor
coordination during a February 24 meeting with the Chief of the MFA
Secretary General's Office (D-equivalent),Ambassador Lyutha al
Mughairi. Ambassador Schmierer thanked Oman for its generous aid
to Yemen, noted that Oman's thorough knowledge of the situation in
Yemen helps it effectively target assistance to where it is needed
most, and encouraged the Omani delegation to use its expertise in
Yemen to provide good advice at the February 27-28 Riyadh meeting.
The Ambassador then delivered the non-paper (reftel).
2. (C) Al Mughairi said that Oman and the U.S. "are on the same
page" on the problems facing Yemen, particularly ROYG neglect of
the South. She said she was not certain if the GoO had finalized
its delegation list for the GCC Secretariat meeting. She promised
to deliver the USG points to Secretary General Sayyid Badr and to
the Omani delegation.
