(SBU) As requested in RefTel, Post approached the UK Foreign
and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to inquire if a potential
contribution to MINUSTAH was being considered. The FCO
confirmed that other than the deployment of the Royal Fleet
Auxiliary ship Largs Bay which has sailed for Haiti and will
remain some weeks to assist with UN efforts, the United
Kingdom currently has no/no plans to send further military or
police assets to Haiti, given the priority of maintaining its
strategic air-bridge to Afghanistan. The UK Ministry of
Defence has also relayed this message to U.S. military
authorities through its UK JFHQ Liaison Officer, Lt. Col. Ed
Luck, embedded with CENTCOM in Miami.
