1. Per reftel, Charge' delivered points regarding the importance of
the Copenhagen Accord in a private meeting with the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT)'s Under Secretary for
Multilateral Affairs, Amb. Vilma McNish, on the afternoon of
January 21.
2. Amb. McNish was most appreciative, and said that the Government
of Jamaica (GoJ) was supportive of the Accord; she said she could
"signal our intention for the GoJ to associate itself." She then
noted that, while a small group of countries had expressed
reservations about the process through which agreement had been
reached, the Accord nevertheless enjoyed broad and strong
international support. Post will report any further developments.
