1.(SBU) Foreign Ministry Americas Department Deputy Director Vu
Viet Dung told Political Counselor January 29 that Prime Minister
Dung had authorized USD 50,000 to Haiti. He was uncertain when the
assistance would arrive in Haiti. Dung confirmed earlier reports
that Vietnam also would provide in-kind assistance in the future,
including foodstuffs (presumably rice) and other supplies.
