UNCLAS COPENHAGEN 000091 SENSITIVE SIPDIS STATE FOR PM/DTCC: MEREDITH SUNDLOF E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: ETTC KOMC DA SUBJECT: BLUE LANTERN - POST-SHIPMENT END-USE CHECK ON LICENSE 050095115 REF: STATE 01513 (U) Sensitive but Unclassified; protect accordingly; not for internet distribution. (SBU) On February 8 2010, POLOFF visited Danish Aerotech AS (DA) in Karup, Denmark in order to conduct a post shipment check on license 050095115 for the export of International Traffic in Arms (ITAR)-controlled switches to the Algerian Ministry of Defense. DA provided several documents indicating the 18 AW-101 helicopter engine switches were shipped in September and October 2009 to Augusta Westland (AW) in the UK for final assembly. DA CEO Jan Jorgensen also provided an AW purchase order which was sent to International Precision Products B.V (IPP) in The Netherlands. Jorgensen explained IPP was responsible for the licensing request as they were the first point of entry into the EU and should have listed AW on the export license paperwork. Jorgensen assured POLOFF that DA understood the licensing requirements and the restrictions on unauthorized retransfer of United States Munitions List (USML) items. DA will also follow up with IPP on any future requests, ensuring AW is listed on the license to prevent any future misunderstanding. FULTON
