¶1. (SBU) Pol/Econ Officer delivered REFTEL points
to Octavian Calmac, Deputy Minister of Economy,
and to Inga Podoroghin and Ala Rotaru in the
International Cooperation and European Integration
Division Policy Analysis, Monitoring and
Evaluation Department in the Ministry of
Environment.
¶2. (SBU) Ms. Rotaru, the Ministry of Environment
expert on CITES, said that the Ministry supported
all the proposals with the exception of the bobcat
(Lynx rufus) proposal. She noted that the bobcat
proposal had failed previously. In addition, she
added that Moldovan Customs does not possess the
necessary electronic equipment for adequate
monitoring.
