(U) Econoff delivered reftel demarche on February 5 to
Ministry of Transportation Senior Counselor Tamas Marton and
Chief Counselor for Aviation Safety and Security Zoltan
Keszthelyi. Neither official offered comment on the issues
of noise-related operational restrictions at EU airports or
on U.S. law on ownership and control of U.S. carriers.
Econoff separately transmitted the demarche points on
February 9 to US Desk Officer Anna Stumpf at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. Econoff sent a follow-up e-mail inquiry on
February 11 to Marton and Keszthelyi. We will report back
any substantive reply.
