PolOff delivered reftel points on February 22 to Veronika
Lombardini, Director of the Human Rights Department of the
Slovak MFA, and reiterated U.S. appreciation for Slovakia's past
no votes on Goldstone-related resolutions. Lombardini also
thanked us for our continued engagement on this issue, and said
they would study our points in detail. Lombardini said that, in
principle, Slovakia's stance has not changed. However,
Lombardini said that the EU was still trying to reach consensus
on the Palestinian draft resolution before the February 26 vote
and she could not predict what the end result of those
negotiations would be.
