(S) On January 14, EconOff delivered ref non-paper to MFA
Export Control Division Desk Officer, Pitra Studert-Goeller,
regarding an Iranian procurement effort for German-origin
valves and spare parts possibly in connection with Iran's
IR-40 heavy water research reactor. Goeller thanked the USG
for the non-paper and said she would deliver it to the
appropriate export control authorities at the German Federal
Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) for review and
report back any findings. Post will report any substantive
German response septel.
