1. (C) Political Counselor presented demarche points to Ambassador
Charalampos Dafaranos, Director of the Asian Directorate at the
Foreign Ministry, on January 15. Dafaranos welcomed the points and
agreed that the London Conference needs to make sure that the
message that gets out is one of continued engagement in
Afghanistan.
2. (C) Ambassador Dafaranos noted that Alternate Foreign Minister
Droutsas would almost certainly lead the Greek delegation.
(Comment: He also hinted that Droutsas might be promoted to
Foreign Minister by the time of the conference.)
