1. (C) Drawing on reftel, we expressed USG concerns about
Syria's nuclear program to MFA Nonproliferation and
Disarmament Deputy DG Omer Tuzel on February 25. Tuzel said
Turkey shares USG concerns about Syria's nuclear program and
has raised these concerns during bilateral discussions with
Syria, urging Damascus to fully cooperated with the IAEA.
Tuzel said Turkey's national statement regarding the IAEA
report on Syria at the March Board meeting will likely take
the same tone as Turkey's statement at the previous Board
meeting in November and will call on Syria to fully cooperate
with the IAEA.
