CLEAR ON DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SUMMIT AND NPT REVCON

PolChief shared reftel points on January 25 with Samer Naber,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director of the North America
Unit, who offered no substantive comment and promised to
share the nonpaper with his colleagues. EconCons engaged
Mohammad Tarawaneh, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy
Director for International Relations and Organizations,
during a January 28 joint demarche with the Dutch DCM on the
upcoming third Sherpa meeting in preparation for the Nuclear
Security Summit(septel). Tarawaneh commended the U.S.
approach on the two issues and asserted the GOJ recognized
the special nature of the Summit and how it differs from the
regular NPT Review Conference. He added that Jordan would be
an active participant at both events.
