1. (SBU) On February 24, AIT passed reftel non-paper to
Wang Henyi, Director of the Legal and Planning Division at
Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). We are also
providing a courtesy copy of the non-paper to the Ministry of
Economic Affair's Bureau of Foreign Trade.
2. (SBU) Mr. Wang indicated that as per Taiwan's usual
practice, the FSC will circulate a notice to direct Taiwan
banking institutions and relevant agencies to end any
activities, if any, with the designated entities and
individuals. The FSC will also inform the financial services
industry associations and request that they follow up with
their members to ensure compliance with the FSC directive.
