(SBU) POLOFF delivered reftel demarche on February 11, to
Andrej Dogan, head of the MFA's Department for International
Security regarding the US position on the Program of Work
(POW) for the 1540 Committee. He indicated that the Croatian
Foreign Ministry would review our position and forward the
supporting material provided--our paper on UNSCR 1540, the
non-paper, and edits to the draft POW--to their mission in
New York. Post will report any substantive response in a
septel. Dogan acknowledged his understanding that we may
seek another extension if our edits to the draft POW do not
get worked into the final version by February 20 deadline.
Dogan also indicated that he understood the spirit of the
changes the US was seeking in the final POW.
