(C) POL officer delivered reftel points on September 28 to
Tihomir Lulic, Head of Section for Security Council Affairs
at the MFA. He stated that the USG had the full support of
Croatia on this issue bilaterally and multilaterally,
including at the Security Council. In a separate meeting on
October 1 with representatives of the French and UK
embassies, Mario Nobilo Director of the MFA Department for
Multilateral and Security Affairs again emphasized Croatia's
support. He noted that Iran was in violation of its
international obligations and also criticized the recent
Iranian missile launches. Nobilo stated that the MFA was
calling in the Iranian ambassador to Croatia to tell the GoI
that it was in violation of its international commitments and
that it should cooperate with the international community.
The GoI was mistaken if it believed that a more multilateral
approach on its nuclear program would be a softer one.
Nobilo also said that the GoC closely communicated with
Israel on this issue.
