OFFER NEW PACKAGE ON NUCLEAR PROGRAM

(C) Tomislav Peric, MFA desk officer for Iran, met with
Poloff on July 29. Peric said that the day before the
Iranian Ambassador to Croatia claimed that Iran would put
forward a new proposal regarding its nuclear program in "a
few days." The Iranian Ambassador mentioned this development
to the GoC during a courtesy call with the new State
Secretary at the MFA Davor Bozinovic, when Bozinovic raised
concerns about Iran's nuclear program. The Iranian
Ambassador said the proposal would be a modified version of
what it had proposed earlier, but did not offer any details.
The Iranian Ambassador also mentioned that he had a favorable
opinion of President Obama and his outreach to the Muslim
community. Per reftel request, Post will report more on
Croatia's limited relations with Iran in septel.
