1. This is an Action Request - see para 3.
2. POLOFF delivered reftel demarches on April 14 to Vesna
Vukovic, head of the MFA's UN office. She expressed her
appreciation for receiving the material, including the
diplomatic note. She stated that Croatia is inclined to
support our candidacy for the HRC, but that Croatia itself,
would likely be a candidate next year (2010) for the HRC and
would like to know if Croatia can count on our support for
its candidacy next year. She did not expressly link the two
issues, but Croatia would like to know our response before
the MFA makes its final decision regarding our candidacy.
3. ACTION REQUEST: Post would appreciate any guidance IO or
DRL can provide on how to reply regarding Croatia's 2010
candidacy for the HRC.
