(C) In spite of limited maritime assets, Poland will consider
what it might be able to offer at the June 10 force
generation meeting at SHAPE. Agnieszka Woszczek of the MFA
Security Policy Department said the GoP would explore whether
it could offer support other than warships, such as
secondment of individual officers with communications or
intelligence expertise. She agreed with reftel assessment
that the EU and NATO counter-piracy operations should not be
mutually exclusive, but she noted that Poland currently did
not participate in the EU's Atalanta mission because of a
lack of suitable resources. Woszczek was unable to say
whether required inter-agency coordination would be completed
before the SHAPE meeting, but Poland would do its best to
respond positively.
