(C) We delivered reftel points September 21 to Julius
Rakitskis, acting director of the MFA's United Nations,
International Organizations and Human Rights Department, and
to Gediminas Varvuolis, director of the MFA's Transatlantic
Cooperation and Security Policy Department. Rakitskis noted
that the red lines were very similar to those that prompted
the EU walkout during Iranian President Ahmadinejad's speech
at the Durban II conference in Geneva in April. He thanked
us for the information and said Lithuania had similar
concerns. He promised to transmit the information in time
for the EU PolDirs meeting so the Lithuanian political
director in New York could decide on the issue.
