(S) We shared reftel points with Donatas Vainalavicius,
acting head of the MFA's Arms Control and Terrorism
Prevention Division. He said that while Lithuania has yet to
make a final decision on whom to support in the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General election, he was
"pretty confident we'll keep our support for Amano. He is the
most suitable candidate." Lithuania voted for Ambassador
Yukiya Amano of Japan in the last round of balloting in
March. Vainalavicius thanked us for sharing information
about U.S. support for Amano.
