Econ/Pol Counselor Sept. 25 to relay the latest information
received from Austrian Ambassador to Iran Postl regarding the
status of the six Amcits detained in Iran.
Kian Tajbakhsh: There is a good chance Tajbakhsh will be
pardoned the week of September 28, but the outcome will
depend partly on Tehran's analysis of the U.S. response to
President Ahmadinejad's UNGA speech.
Three Hikers: Amb. Postl has received letters from the
parents of the three hikers to Supreme Leader Khamanei They
are being translated into Farsi and will be delivered to
Khamanei's office on Sept. 26. Stift had no information on
how the letters reached Postl.
Reza Taghavi: Is being held at Evin Prison on espionage
charges.
Levinson: There is a 90% probability he is dead; Postl
expects to receive more detail on Sept. 28. If Levinson's
death is confirmed, he will ask that the remains be
transferred to the family.
