1. USUN has received the following letter to President Obama
from General Assembly President Miguel d'Escoto
Brockmann, dated May 27, 2009.

Text of letter follows in para 2 below.

2. Begin text of letter to President Obama:

27 May 2009

Excellency,

Further to my letter dated 16 April 2009, I wish to inform
you that the General Assembly, on 26 May, decided by
consensus to reschedule the United Nations Conference on the
World Financial and Economic Crisis and Its Impact on
Development. The Conference will now be held in the United
Nations Headquarters in New York on 24, 25 and 26 June 2009.

The decision to reschedule the Conference was not an easy
one. The General Assembly was very conscious of the
inconvenience that the rescheduling could engender in the
busy programs of Heads of State and Government. There was
broad agreement among Member States, however, that the change
of dates was necessary to increase the participation of Heads
of State and Government and to allow time for concluding
negotiations of an appropriate Outcome Document.

As pointed out in my earlier letter, the June Conference will
be an opportunity to launch a truly inclusive process on the
global economic crisis, focused on the proposals for lines of
action presented by the President of the General
Assembly to the Conference, and should provide impetus to
moving forward together to avert what portends to be a great
human tragedy. This process will be interactive and on the
main issues of our time, and I highly recommend that you
commit yourself to attend all three days of the Conference.

I deeply regret any inconvenience but hope that your
Excellency will still be able to participate in this historic
Conference.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest
consideration.

s/s

Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann

His Excellency
Mr. Barack Obama
President of the United States of America
Washington, DC.
