The Permanent Mission of Georgia's note 6/85-02 of June 1, 2009 (text follows in paragraph 2 below) informs USUN that the Government has decided not to waive the immunity of Alexander Chelizde from criminal jurisdiction so that he could face the third degree assault charges that the Queens County (NY) District Attorney's office would have brought as a result of a domestic dispute with his Chelidze's wife on May 12, Chelidze left the Mission and the United States on Sunday, May 31. His wife, Nana Tsuladze, and their three children will remain in New York until the end of June so that the two older children may finish the school year. USUN requests that the Department place Chelizde's name in the Visa and Immigration Lookout system as envisaged in paragraph 3 of reftel B. USUN has been informed that the City of New York will issue a warrant for Chelidze's arrest following his departure and consequent loss of immunity. ¶2. Begin text of dipnote from the Mission of Georgia: (complimentary diplomatic salutation) and in response to the note of the United States Mission #HC-48-09 dated May 26, 2009, has the honor to notify the U.S. Mission that the Government of Georgia has considered the request to waive diplomatic immunity of Alexander Chelidze, former Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Georgia to the United Nations. Taking into account the solitary (sic) as well as the fact that the family incident has already been resolved which has resulted in the reunion of the Chelidze family, the Government of Georgia has decided not the waive diplomatic immunity to Mr. Chelidze. Furthermore, the Permanent Mission of Georgia would like to inform the United States Mission that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has decided to relinquish (sic) Mr. Chelidze from his duties as of June 1, 2009 and summon him to Georgia.
