¶1. (U) This is a request for guidance by OOB October 19
(Brussels time). See para 3.
¶2. (C/REL ISAF) The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR)
Admiral James Stavridis submitted ISAF Commander General
Stanley McChrystal's resource documentation supplementing his
60-day assessment to the 42 NATO Allies and Non-NATO Troop
Contributing Nations on October 13. All 42 ISAF Chiefs of
Defense will hold a preliminary steering discussion on the
military implications of the resource request on October 17.
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen intends to
follow the weekend military discussion with an initial
political debate in the North Atlantic Council in ISAF format
on October 19.
¶3. (C) Request for guidance: Mission requests guidance for
the first Council political discussion of the ISAF
Commander's additional resource request by Brussels open of
business October 19. Since the document under discussion,
SG(2009)0860, is classified NATO SECRET, it is available only
from Washington's NATO registry.
