SUBJECT: TUNISIAN CANDIDACY FOR UNESCO ORGANS
1. The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed the
Embassy via diplomatic note of Tunisia's decision to pursue
membership in several UNESCO organs during the UNESCO General
Conference in Paris October 6-23, and requests U.S. support
for Tunisia's candidacies.
2. According to Tunisian Diplomatic Note number 3040, Tunisia
will pursue membership in the International Bureau of
Education, the Management of Social Transformations Program
(MOST),and the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical
Education and Sport (CIGEPS).
3. Tunisia will also put forward law professor Mohamed Ali
Messaoudi as a candidate for membership in UNESCO's Judicial
Committee. The Embassy is emailing Messaoudi's CV to
NEA/MAG under separate cover.
