1. (C) On the morning of September 8, Charge spoke with
Mahmoud Khemiri, Chief of Staff to Foreign Minister
Abdelwahab Abdallah. Passing him a diplomatic note and a non
paper drawn from points conveyed reftel, the charge urged
Tunisia to press for constructive action by the Arab League
on the Arab-Israeli peace process, for support for Iraq as it
prepares for elections in early 2010, and for support for the
transitional federal government in efforts to stabilize
Somalia.
2. (C) Khemiri promised to convey the content of our demarche
to the Foreign Minister, who had not yet departed for Cairo.
