1. Charge and Japan's Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone
signed the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA)
Executive Agreement April 27 at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs in Tokyo, as per instructions contained in ref.
During the same signing ceremony, FAA Acting Assistant
Administrator Dorothy Reimold and Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) Civil Aviation
Bureau (JCAB) Engineering Bureau Director-General Toru
Miyashita signed the BASA associated Implementation
Procedures for Airworthiness (IPA).
2. Post has retained copies of the signed documents and
forwarded the originals to EAP/J.
