Deputy Director Yuki Okada of MOFA's Human Rights and
Humanitarian Affairs Division. Okada said Japan understood
and sympathized with U.S. concerns and was fully committed to
the protection of minority rights. She stated that Japan had
not made an official decision on how it would vote but added
privately that the most likely outcome was a repeat of its
previous action. (Note: Japan previously abstained on this
resolution. End Note.)
