1. (SBU) Post submits the following information in response
to reftel inquiry. Post contacted Kenichiro Teramoto of the
Equipment Policy Division, Ministry of Defense on November
11, 2009, by e-mail. Teramoto confirmed by e-mail on
November 26, all items listed in reftel have been ordered by
the Japanese AIR Self Defense Forces from consignee Sunisho
Aero-Systems Corporation as spare parts for the A/A47-U3
target drone, tow reeling and launcher towed by the
F-4EJ(KAI).
2. (SBU) Based on the response to our inquiry through GOJ
standard channels, post believes the transaction is
legitimate.
3. (SBU) Future Blue Lantern inquiries for Japan should be
directed to Jason N. Lawrence.
