1. LEAD STORIES: Top stories on Monday morning included the ceremony
at Nagasaki on Sunday to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the
atomic bombing.
2. "Iranian President Should Clear up International Doubts about
Nuclear Development" The Liberal Tokyo Shimbun editorialized (8/10):
"The greatest concern about Iran is the course of its nuclear
development. The Iranian government always insists that 'its nuclear
development is for peaceful purposes.' However, the international
community is increasingly doubtful [of Tehran's intentions]. Iran's
new administration should clear up such doubts. It should accept
inspections by the IAEA to prove that its nuclear-related materials
will not be used for military purposes."
