(C) The Charge delivered reftel points to MOFA Southeast and
Southwest Asian Affairs Department Director General Hiroshi
Inomata on June 30. Inomata said that he was aware of the
request and that he agreed on the need to convince Burma to
support the idea of including a third party in inspections of
North Korean vessels suspected of transporting prohibited
cargo. He added that Tokyo has been reminding Rangoon of its
UN obligations and encouraging the Burmese leadership to
enforce UNSC Resolution 1874.
