Post has confirmed that Peter de Smalen is a bona fide
broker/recipient of United States Munitions List (USML)
items. De Smalen is director of AD-S and Co., a subsidiary
of Avio-Diepen, an independent distributor in the aerospace
industry. Embassy officials conducted a site visit of AD-S'
offices and storage facility in March 2008 as part of a
post-shipment end-use check. As reported ref B, the result
of that visit was positive. Post confirmed with de Smalen on
October 19, 2009, that AD-S' security procedures for
handling USML items has not changed over the past 18 months.
In post's view, Peter de Smalen (AD-S) remains a reliable
broker.
LEVIN
