Per reftel, Econ office contacted Jos Lorenzana, Multilateral Political Director at the MFA, regarding Honduras, participation in International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). ¶2. According to Lorenzana, Honduras was waiting to receive the IRENA documents from Germany. Upon receipt, the documents will be forwarded to congress for ratification. Lorenzana predicted that congress will ratify the IRENA documents. ¶3. The GOH has not decided which countries it will support for IRENA headquarters or the director-generalship. Lorenzana said the GOH was leaning toward the UAE for headquarters, as a representative came from the UAE to Honduras to lobby. Lorenzana said he thought Spain had formed an agreement with the UAE, in which the UAE would serve as the headquarters while Spain would supply the Director General. Lorenzana predicted the GOH would support this pairing, though he emphasized that no formal decisions had been made. ¶4. Honduras was still working on forming the delegation that will travel to Egypt June 28-30.
