1. (U) We delivered reftel points in person on May 7 to Nurillo
Abdullaev of the MFA's North AMERICA Desk. Without comment, he
assured us he would send them on the appropriate agencies in the
GOU.
2. (U) On April 28 the GOU imposed a ban on import of meat, pork,
and live animals from various countries including Mexico, Canada,
and the U.S. This is reported to be a temporary ban that will be
lifted in a month if no cases of H1N1 are reported in Uzbekistan.
We have requested but have not yet received a copy of the ban from
the Ministry of Agriculture.
3. (U) Small amounts of pork products are imported into Uzbekistan,
but we have no reliable statistics on the volume.
