(SBU) Charge d'Affaires and Poloff delivered reftel demarche requesting information on host country participation at the upcoming 64th UN General Assembly General Debate to MFA's Americas Department on July 22. New Chief of the Americas Department Bakhtiyor Ibragimov indicated that Foreign Minister Norov as well as his aides may participate in the meeting, but this will not be confirmed for a couple more days. He added that the Foreign Minister would probably be the highest-level GOU official present given that this is only the 64th session instead of the 65th or 70th. Ibragimov hoped that the U.S. would arrange a meeting for Norov with an official "of the appropriate level," and agreed to send Post an official response to the demarche before the end of July.
