(SBU) U.S. Consulate Sydney conducted a site visit of APAC SECURITY PTY LTD, located at 9/32 Campbell Avenue, Cromer, NSW (a suburb of Sydney) on November 2. The following information was gathered during an on-site interview and inspection of the business premises: -- APAC was founded in 2006 by Carl and Sophie Lundberg, who are dual Swedish-Australian citizens. Carl serves as director and day-to-day operational head of the company. Sophie is a passive investor/co-owner. -- APAC is a broker for U.S. companies DSA Detection (Boston, MA) and ICX Technologies (Stillwater, OK),which manufacture explosives and narcotics detection equipment and active infrared cameras. APAC is the broker for ICX detectors based upon amplifying fluorescence polymer technology, sold under the brand name Fido. In addition, APAC sells related consumables (calibrating agents) for ICX and DSA equipment. The company is also a broker for a Swedish company, Biosensor. --APAC sells to Australian state and federal government entities in the areas of law enforcement, border control, and correctional facilities. APAC facilities are secured by a commercial alarm system as well as dead bolted doors. APAC is located in an industrial office park with various other businesses. --Lundberg is broadly aware of USML regulations on sensitive technologies and prohibitions against unauthorized re-transfers and re-exports. ¶2.
