Nauru's acting secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pyon Deiye,
e-mailed us on July 23 to follow up on our approach last week on
Nauru's interest in joining the International Renewable Energy
Agency (IRENA). Deiye wrote: "As a country that relies heavily on
fossil fuels, the issue of renewable energy is placed high on the
Government of Nauru's priorities. In light of this the Government
of Nauru will be represented at the Egypt meeting with the intention
to become signatory to the IRENA."
