(C) On January 9, 2009, Emboffs met with Robert Rydberg,
Deputy Director-General and Head of the Department of Middle
East and North Africa at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (MFA),to urge the EU delay approval of the EU-Syria
Association Agreement (reftel). Rydberg said that he did not
think this issue was on the January GAERC agenda but that
Sweden's position would ultimately be based upon a review of
the overall Syrian dossier to be conducted in the months
ahead.
