Steve,
Embassy Amman's reporting cables represent some of the finest
reporting and analysis coming out of the bureau today. Amman
1898 was a particularly impressive example and I wanted to
pass along my appreciation for the high quality of this
excellent analytical piece. Reports such as this one provide
Washington with invaluable insights into the context in which
we are managing both bilateral and multilateral issues with
the Jordanian government. Post's quick spot reports ensure
we are always updated, while longer reporting like your
series reflecting on the ten years of King Abdullah's reign
and the series on tribal elements of Jordanian society
provide invaluable background. Your primer on honor killings
and recent reviews of Jordan's economic situation are also
excellent examples of reporting on topics our leadership is
following with interest. Embassy Amman has perfected the art
of providing the right information, at the right time, with
the right analysis.
I know Embassy Amman's first rate reporting is representative
of a mission team that excels across the board, from
managing endless visits and a heavy consular load, to running
busy bilateral programming in public affairs, technical
assistance, and development areas.
Thanks to you and to your team for setting the bar so high in
NEA. Best,
Jeff
