This is an action request. USUN is requested to send a letter to the Committee established pursuant to resolution 1132 (1994) concerning Sierra Leone ("the Sierra Leone Sanctions Committee") with the information found in para 2 below in connection with the arms embargo on Sierra Leone established by the Security Council notifying that the United States will provide some equipment that is covered by the arms embargo to the Republic of Sierra Leone's Armed Forces. -------------- LETTER -------------- ¶2. Consistent with paragraph 4 of UN Security Council resolution 1171 (1998),the United States Government notifies its intention to provide supplies and equipment, some of which is covered by the arms embargo established by resolution 1171, to the Republic of Sierra Leone's Armed Forces (RSLAF). The following equipment will be provided to the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) from the U.S. contract-managed ECOWAS Logistics Facility in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The equipment will be loaned to the RSLAF reconnaissance company for their use while deployed as peacekeepers to Darfur, Sudan as part of the United Nations /African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). At the end of their deployment, the equipment will be returned to the logistics facility.
