PROCURE VIBRATION EXCITER AND ACCELEROMETERS FROM DANISH
FIRM (S)
REF: A. STATE 19390
B. COPENHAGEN 126
Classified By: ISN/MTR DIRECTOR PAM DURHAM FOR REASON 1.4 (C).
1. (U) This is an action request. Embassy Copenhagen, please
see paragraph 3.
2. (S) Background: In March 2009, the U.S. provided
information to Danish officials regarding efforts by Farazeh
Equipment Distributor Company (FEDCO) and its Singapore-based
subsidiary Microsun Electronics Pte Ltd. to obtain a
vibration
exciter and accelerometers from Danish firm Bruel & Kjaer
(REF
A). FEDCO has facilitated transactions on behalf of Iran's
liquid-fueled ballistic missile developer and entities
affiliated with its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program.
Although not controlled by the Missile Technology Control
Regime (MTCR),vibration exciters can be used in a missile
program to simulate the vibrations and shocks that missile
components and sub-assemblies experience during flight.
Since
the delivery of this demarche, Denmark has not provided any
information on the status of its investigation this matter
(REF B). We therefore want to follow-up with Danish
authorities and request an update at the earliest possible
time.
3. (S) Action Request: Request Embassy Copenhagen follow-up
with appropriate host government authorities to request an
update on the GOD's investigation of this case and report
response.
4. (U) Washington POC is ISN/MTR Mike Kennedy (Phone: 202-
647-3176). Please slug any reporting on this issue for
ISN/MTR and EUR/PRA.
